In celebration of my 3000th digital postcard sale yesterday I am sending a free gift to all of my blog readers.  This sweet image has been digitally created by me for you to use in your crafting work.  You can find my lovely vintage postcards at YOUR CRAFT POSTCARDS by clicking HERE.

The only thing I ask is that you do not include it for sale in a collage sheet digital or on its own digitally.  Otherwise have fun printing it off and creating, enjoy!

THE UPS AND DOWNS OF CREATING......

Sometimes there are days when I hit a complete drought where creating is concerned.  I will nearly always start off with a beautiful antique postcard as my first inspirational piece.  Then from that place go absolutely no where!  Believe me I mean no where!!

I will sit and look at the image for ages waiting for something to click and settle in my mind and it never comes.  This image was a perfect example!  There have been times I have abandoned an image because I am in such a rut in regards to ideas and vision.  This young girl is so beautiful that I felt sure I would be romping along but no, after a couple of days of hacking in bits and pieces I was no nearer a finished design.

The hardest part of this design was if you would believe it the background!  I tried so many before I got to the simple sky idea.  Wish I had though of it earlier and from that jumping off point I was off and running.

Sometimes it can be so frustrating but when you do finally get to the point where it all works and comes together it is magical.

Today I could not resist thinking ahead to summer time and days at the beach, living here in Florida it is not so far away.  I poured through my vintage postcards and came across this beautiful Victorian beach belle and could not resist using her for my newest design.

LATEST DESIGN 'MISS DOLLY'......

This latest design was completely built around this wonderful image of the little girl with her dogs.  I knew as soon as I finished restoring this postcard that these little charmers would find their way into one of my designs.

Miss Dolly as I like to call her reminded me of Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz and Toto, so that was my jumping off point.

Miss Dolly travelled around Oz and during that time she made friends with a blackbird called Freddy and they became firm friends.  Freddie had managed to escape from a blackbird pie and was very grateful to be safe once again.  The blackbird flew high in the sky and helped lead Miss Dolly home.  Like all good little girls Miss Dolly did not want to arrive home empty handed so she came bearing beautiful flowers for her parents.

Patch not wanting to be left out has found a new friend called 'Trotter and they were both pleased to be home with a warm fire to snuggle up to, bliss indeed!

RETRO REVIVAL......

Everything retro seems to be the thing at the moment.  From the fifties onwards all is new again.  These images capture the charm of the 1950s Pin Up, wonderful to look at, impossible to attain, though many tried. my mother included!




The Barbie doll was invented in the late fifties and you can certainly see the iconic Barbie in these wonderful vintage female forms.

 



Sex appeal had a certain naive charm unlike today!
