VINTAGE STYLE CLOTH DOLL FABRIC PANEL......

It is no secret that I love anything vintage and my home is a testiment to that style.  One thing that always take me straight back to my childhood is vintage paper dolls and cloth dolls.

These wonderful creations just seem to embody the emotions and feelings of that time.  They have a charm and style all of their own.  I am lucky enough to have a large collection of some of my all time favourites and this new additon to my Etsy store YOUR CRAFT BOOK is a homage to these faulous vintage charmers!

I have spent many hours digitally remastering this paper doll from my collection and the face was a true labour of love.  I am slowly creating a collection of cloth dolls that would have given me joy to own way back when.

This sweet boy is my very first large fabric cloth doll and the doll panel is about 16" tall, the perfect size for siting in a chair or on an antique bed!

I hope that you love these as much as I do and I will be creating some new ones for my Etsy store YOUR CRAFT BOOK, you can find it by clicking HERE.

LOVE THESE AND HAD TO SHARE......

I had to share these, they are so funny and my favourites are numbers 6 and 7, let me know which ones are your favourite.  Enjoy reading these and smile!

1. King Ozymandias of Assyria was running low on cash after years of war with the Hittites.  His last great possession was the Star of the Euphrates, the most valuable diamond in the ancient world.  Desperate, he went to Croesus, the pawnbroker, to ask for a loan.

Croesus said, "I'll give you 100,000 dinars for it."

"But I paid a million dinars for it," the King protested.  "Don't you know who I am? I am the king!"

Croesus replied, "When you wish to pawn a Star, makes no difference who you are."

---------------------

2. Evidence has been found that William Tell and his family were avid bowlers. Unfortunately, all the Swiss League records were destroyed in a fire, ...and so we'll never know for whom the Tells bowled.

---------------------

3. A man rushed into a busy doctor's surgery and shouted, "Doctor! I think I'm shrinking!"

The doctor calmly responded, "Now, settle down.  You'll just have to be a little patient."

---------------------

4. An Indian chief was feeling very sick, so he summoned the medicine man. After a brief examination, the medicine man took out a long, thin strip of elk rawhide and gave it to the chief, telling him to bite off, chew, and swallow one inch of the leather every day.

After a month, the medicine man returned to see how the chief was feeling.

The chief shrugged and said, "The thong is ended, but the malady lingers on."

----------------------

 5. A famous Viking explorer returned home from a voyage and found his name missing from the town register. His wife insisted on complaining to the local civic official, who apologised profusely saying, "I must have taken Leif off my census."

----------------------

 6. There were three Indian squaws. One slept on a deer skin, one slept on an elk skin, and the third slept on a hippopotamus skin.  All three became pregnant. The first two each had a baby boy.  The one who slept on the hippopotamus skin had twin boys. This just goes to prove that... the squaw of the hippopotamus is equal to the sons of the squaws of the other two hides. (Some of you may need help with this one).

-----------------------

7. A sceptical anthropologist was cataloguing South American folk remedies with the assistance of a tribal elder who indicated that the leaves of a particular fern were a sure cure for any case of constipation.  When the anthropologist expressed his doubts, the elder looked him in the eye and said, "Let me tell you, with fronds like these, you don't need enemas."

PRETTY BOOK COVERS......

Full Of Shabby Chic Charm......
1930s Vintage Wallpaper......

Retro Union Jack......

Very Jane Austen......
Vintage Roses And Burlap......
I love vintage books with a passion and my current favorites can be found HERE.  Inspired by these beautiful covers I have designed some of my own to use when decorating some of my more mundane paperbacks.

These book covers add a certain charm to tired old books and I cannot wait to begin dressing up my old library of books.  These take me back to my school days in England when we had to cover our school books with brown paper and put our name on the front.  These would look so much prettier!

I hope that you love them as much as I do.  I know that this is not a new idea but I wanted to put a different spin on an old tradition, have fun!

THE LOVE OF VINTAGE BOOKS......

One thing I love more than anything is vintage books and I cannot go past a shop that stocks them without popping inside to see what is on offer.  I was so lucky a few months ago and was able to buy these beautiful books.  The papers and details on the cover are truly wonderful and could not have more shabby chic charm if they tried.

These books are all around 90 years old and I know I will happily sit down in a cozy corner and read them.  When a book is as pretty as these are it just gives them so much more charm and appeal.  I currently have these in one of my guest bedrooms on the bedside cabinet.  Set there ready for someone to open them up and dive into another world.

Like most people today I do have an iPad and I love it!  I must admit it is one of my great joys to read a new book on my Kindle app.  The convenience is wonderful but it still cannot beat that musty smell that comes from a well read and well loved book.  There is truly nothing like it in the world!

I'M BACK IN THE USA!......

Up, Up and away!

On the 23rd of June I took off with my brother for London Heathrow airport on Virgin Atlantic flight V 006.  This was an historical flight for us both because it had been years since we were to be together for a prolonged period of time.  I am happy to say that there was no significant blood loss and both parties remained civil and in our respective corners of the ring!  All joking appart we had the BEST time together and had a wonderful two weeks of each other's company which was fantastic.  I can honestly not remember how long ago that it was that we had been able to spend so much time together.  At least thirty years!

FREEBIE IMAGE FOR YOU......

This is a new freebie for you to enjoy!  I love how her face is surrounded by Lily Of The Valley flowers.  Simply click on the image and then save with a right mouse click.  Enjoy!

THE UPS AND DOWNS OF CREATING......

Sometimes there are days when I hit a complete drought where creating is concerned.  I will nearly always start off with a beautiful antique postcard as my first inspirational piece.  Then from that place go absolutely no where!  Believe me I mean no where!!

I will sit and look at the image for ages waiting for something to click and settle in my mind and it never comes.  This image was a perfect example!  There have been times I have abandoned an image because I am in such a rut in regards to ideas and vision.  This young girl is so beautiful that I felt sure I would be romping along but no, after a couple of days of hacking in bits and pieces I was no nearer a finished design.

The hardest part of this design was if you would believe it the background!  I tried so many before I got to the simple sky idea.  Wish I had though of it earlier and from that jumping off point I was off and running.

Sometimes it can be so frustrating but when you do finally get to the point where it all works and comes together it is magical.

I hope you enjoy this new Fairest Of Them All Collection and have a great weekend of creating!

You can find this new range in my Etsy store YOUR CRAFT EPHEMERA by clicking HERE.

I am sharing this blog post today with Beverley at HOW SWEET THE SOUND pink Saturday.  Stop by for a visit you can find it by clicking HERE.

SPLISH SPLASH MERMAID.....

My very latest design has been created using one of my all time favourite vintage postcards.  This wonderful postcard has been part of my collection for a very long time and I truly love the expression in her eyes.  Now I will say that this face and eyes have been completely remastered by me before I even began my newest design.

Many times I will begin a design and it just does not have enough going for it to make the cut.  I am really fussy about the completed image and often these will be put away until inspiration strikes.  That was not the case with this latest creation, Sparkling Eyes as I have always called her just seemed to flow and these are my very favourite designs of all.

I truly hope that you love this latest creation of mine and you can find her and others by visiting YOUR CRAFT EPHEMERA and by clicking HERE.
